Construction Updates
Updated October 1, 2026
Drilling into roads around campus Oct. 12-18
Crews will be drilling small holes into roadways around the Harborview campus from Monday, October 12, to Sunday, October 18, to survey hospital supporting infrastructure. Trucks will be removing soil from the ground, which will generate noise. All work will be performed from 7am-4pm during the week and through 8pm on the weekend, though noisy work will not begin prior to 8am. Please allow extra time to get around campus.
This work will require partial closures of roads at the following dates and times:
- Oct. 12-13: Partial road closures with construction flaggers at the corner of 8th Avenue and Alder Street.
- Oct. 14-16: Partial closures with construction flaggers at the corner 8th Avenue and Jefferson Street, near Jefferson Terrace and the Harborview Emergency Department.
- Oct. 17-18: Partial road closures at 9th Avenue and Jefferson Street, with construction flaggers and police directing traffic in the intersection. Bus stops will need to be temporarily relocated, with relocation information to come.
Site work to begin at 925 Terrace – Oct. 19 tentative start date
Pending permit approval with the City of Seattle, site work will begin at 925 Terrace Street as soon as Monday, Oct. 19, in preparation of building a three-story, modular office building. Initial site work will take place on private property, and neighbors can expect to hear large excavation equipment as well as jackhammering to remove old foundation and alley concrete to install a new utility vault. Noisy work will not take place outside of regular working hours of 8am-5pm M-F and 9am-5pm Saturday/Sunday.
The initial scope of work will not involve street or sidewalk closures, though future work on site this fall will require closures.
Installation of the prefabricated building will take place in phases, with the first to take place in November, pending permit approval. These installations will lead to traffic stoppages and closure of street parking on Ninth Avenue, Alder Street, and Terry Avenue, with exact locations to be shared closer to the date of work. There will also be utility installation later this fall that will require closure of Terry Avenue.
Construction work is scheduled to last through at least April 2027. More information will be posted to this page as it becomes available.
