Ninth and Alder Building
Supporting the development of the new inpatient tower
About Ninth and Alder Building
King County purchased a vacant 1.6-acre parcel of land located at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Alder Street (755 Alder St) in 2024 to expand operations for Harborview Medical Center.
The phased project includes a seven-level below-grade parking structure, and future six-story shell and core of a medical office building (Record #: 3044234-LU).
The team hopes to open the parking garage for use before the Harborview Bond Program closes parking stalls in the View Park garages in 2028 to build the planned inpatient care tower on campus. This is intended to prevent a large drop in parking capacity during ongoing construction.
The 9th and Alder garage is a “bond-affiliated” project, done in conjunction with other major construction work happening on the medical center campus. It is not funded through the Bond, but by the County Hospital Levy and a $5 million behavioral health grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce.
