Seattle, WA – The Harborview Bond Program staff attended the Seattle Greenways Downtown Chapter meeting on September 26. It provided an opportunity for County staff to engage with a community organization that mobilizes residents to make Seattle a safer, healthier, and more equitable place to live. Attendees at the meeting included neighborhood residents and people employed in the neighborhood from various industries.
Nearly a dozen people discussed current initiatives impacting downtown Seattle such as the Waterfront #UnGapTheMap development, Permanent Café Streets, and tours with city leaders. County staff attended to listen to concerns, share details about the Bond Program, and identify any connections to Bond Program. Participants shared the need for greater collaboration with neighboring areas and associations in First Hill and the International District.
The Harborview Bond Program looks to build and maintain engagement with Seattle Greenways and other community groups and organizations as Seattle Greenways expands and increases activities within the neighborhood of the Harborview campus. Such engagement with community is rooted in the County’s equity and social justice values and reflects the Harborview Bond Program team’s goal of sharing essential information with diverse communities .
