Two staff members pose for picture at King County HBP booth

Team members from the Harborview Bond Program attended the Alliance Northwest annual conference on March 16, 2023, to engage contractors and suppliers about the upcoming bond-funded construction projects being planned for the Harborview campus. With nearly 700 attendees ranging from small and underrepresented businesses to prime contractors, the event is the largest business-to-government conference in the Pacific Northwest.

The Thurston Economic Development Council hosted high-quality workshops and matchmaking sessions for more than one hundred businesses.

Team members Garrett Farrell and Melvin Givens staffed the bond program booth, which neighbored two other King County agencies: Procurement and Payables, and Business Development and Contract Compliance.

The Alliance Northwest marks the first large event appearance of the year for the Harborview Bond Program. Upcoming events and outreach include small firm engagements and presentations to the Association of General Contractors, neighborhood associations, and community organizations.

The Harborview Bond Program plans ongoing engagement of businesses and community-based groups as construction plans for the medical center develop. Such engagement with community is rooted in the County’s equity and social justice values and reflects the Harborview Bond Program team’s goal of sharing essential information with diverse communities.
